I feel a little guilty cheering on a Super Bowl game when there are so many ppl that have suffered such devistation in northern Florida. The death toll rises. Ppl that have lost everything. And my prayers are with them.
I can't help being a football fan. And while I may be praying for those ppl, I will also be taking my time to watch the game.
It puts a lot of things into perspective...it won't matter to Mother Nature who wins or loses the Super Bowl. She will be as fickle as ever and either send some sunshine to warm and encourage or get out on the wrong side of the bed and decide to take it out on unsuspecting, undeserving humans. And animals.
Even though it doesn't matter about the game, and I won't tell who I will be cheering for (since I think both teams are good)
(now where did that image come from? )
I will still be there parked in front of my big ol' TV screen watching.
Just like the one I posted last Saturday...this song has always stuck with me. The lyrics mean a lot to me and it was featured in a movie that I really liked..."Life or Something Like It"
And then there's bagels...looks like a donut...but not so sweet.
Some ppl just warm theirs up. Some ppl toast them like, well, toast. Some ppl eat them at room temperature. Then there is me...I pop them in the toaster just enuff to get the outside a wee bit 'crisp' but not turning brown at all...then I put cheese on it...put it in the nuker for about 30 seconds to melt the cheese.
Other ppl slather theirs in cream cheese, or jelly, or both.
Bagels make good sandwiches too. Some ham and cheese in between. I like egg salad on mine...or chicken salad, or turkey and swiss, or...you get the picture.
Wash it all down with a big, hot cup of coffee.
yes, this whole post was boring and inane. But, I am feeling quite boring and inane today. Better than yesterday, but not as good as tomorrow.
And in the morning, I shall pull out my whole wheat bagel, toast it, cover it, heat it, and eat it and be one happy camper until dinner time.
It is the daddy's b-day on Saturday. Stuffed roast duck, smashed taters, squash, rolls, and my cheesecake. topped off with a great bottle of wine (not for the kiddies, of course). yep. fun. woohoo.
Know what I hate about the Super Bowl? I hate all the yapping that goes on before it. And the analyzing and predictions. And none of it means anything, becuz sometimes it just comes down to refs and thuganomics (i.e. the Pittsburgh Steelers and last year's SuperBowl).
The thing that gets me is how some ppl pin the whole teams' ability to win on one person...the quarterback. Mind you, having a good quarterback...an EXCELLENT quarterback...is a definite plus. BUT, no matter how good the quarterback is, he needs a talented team around him. The quarterback can execute the most flawless play, BUT if his team can't block, tackle, run, catch, juke, sprint, kick, etc. it doesn't matter. AND the offense has to be able to take care of their quarterback.
I won't even try to predict who will win this Superbowl. I know which team I would like to see win...but that doesn't matter. I don't know all that much about the other team becuz, well, I wasn't even aware they were doing well enuff to make it to the Superbowl. But there they are. And it is too bad both teams have to travel all the way to Miami to play this game. However, it will be warmer for them.
These two teams seem to be pretty evenly matched. It is anybody's guess. Hopefully there won't be any dirty plays like chop blocking or helmet to helmet knocks. Kinda sad when a team has to resort to those kinds of tactics.
I just wish that there would be a coach out there that could get some brain power and energy infused into the Cleveland Browns. Everyone blames the poor quarterback...it would be nice to have a decent one but if the offense isn't going to protect him, he never gets much of a chance.
Come Sunday night I will have my bottom parked where a lot of others will have theirs...in front of the television set...and I hope that the Colts can muster their energy and talent for that last huge effort. Nothing against the Bears...they have plenty of talent too. No luck involved...it won't hinge on the quarterback...it will hinge on the team. I would like to see a nailbiting close game.
Ever had a day when you just wanted to go to the batting cages and knock the cover off some baseballs? Ever felt like if you stepped out of line half a step, or did one thing out of 'character', that it would knock someone else off their track? Ever feel like you need a break but if you do that then it will topple the delicate balance of life around you?
I REALLY need to knock the cover off some baseballs today. It is just one of them thar days. A good primal scream, beat on something...that just might do it.
