 Some Friend!

I got an e-mail from my friend Karen from 'back home' yesterday. She had sent me some jokes and asked what was going on. I sent her one back telling her about the schools and all being closed just becuz of windchill. I know they are packed in by snow up there...my mother tells me about it everyday.

So, this morning it started snowing here. Hasn't stopped all day. It is the wet, heavy, slippery kind...the kind of which snowmen are built. (Oh, excuse me...snow PEOPLE). Everything is closed down. Again. I didn't even have to go to class today. BUT, I was rousted out of bed by my cell phone...the daddy...just wanted to make sure I had gone to the bank for him to make his car payment that he should have done last week but 'forgot'. 3 months in a row of forgetting...oh sorry...I am really getting off the track...and there WAS one.

ANYHOWDY...once I braved the elements and got to and from in one piece, I made the kiddies happy and made a big ol' pot of lobster bisque. That should keep us full and warm for the rest of today!

I finally turned on my puter and checked my e-mail...there was a return e-mail from Karen. She asked me if it was okay if she sent some of their snow down to us! THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!

So I e-mailed her back and told her I thot it was rude and presumptious of her to send the snow without waiting for an answer back...and that NO she shouldn't have sent it and I would appreciate it ever so much if she would take her 'present' back!

I don't think she's checking her e-mail.

 Pass the Dramamine, Please

This is a band that I DO NOT listen to...and I use the word 'band' loosely...I won't go any further into my thoughts about them, I am sure you get the drift. However, my son showed me this clip of the drummer doing a drum solo...it isn't the drum solo that is so very fascinating--cuz I've heard better, altho he does a semi decent job--it is the stage! You have to watch what happens to the platform he is on while doing the drum solo.

Now, bear in mind, it isn't like they JUST decided to bolt his equipment to this platform and secure him in his seat so that he can't escape, they throw him his sticks and say, "Good luck!" He HAD to practice playing his drums on this thing over and over until he knew he could do it. What did he do...climb up there, strap in and say, "Stick that dramamine patch behind my ear and hit the switch!" and just how many times a day did he do this? Then again...if he's doing some kind of mind altering junk...I'm sure doing a drum solo on a spinning stage 'tweren't nuttin'!

I'm too old for that crap!

 One Degree of Separation

1 degree. That's what the temp. for Tipp City says...1 lousy degree. Why bother measuring at all? There was school cancellations and delay of classes becuz of negative windchill factors. We have no snow. No ice...just extreme cold. I don't have to get out and take my daughter to GS meeting tonight becuz they cancelled that already. There is still the matter of the Driver's Ed. class for my son. The Daddy is on his way to Chicago again. Where there is lots of snow, or so I understand.

I really think that things should just close down for the months of January and February...let everyone hibernate. You must stock up for those months so that you don't have to even poke your nose outside the door.

I'm not sounding a bit wimpy am I?

 The Passing of Uncle Jake

The call came that I have been steeling myself for all week. My Uncle Jake has passed on.

I am sort of glad I haven't seen him for the past 6 months. Why? Becuz he has had many strokes and wasted down to nothing until he went into a coma...his body started shutting down on him.

I still have my images of his rascally smile...the twinkle in his eye when he played a practical joke on someone. He could always make me giggle and be his co-conspirator. When he was caught, he never gave me up. He would just wink at me when no one else could see.

But the ravages of diabetes took their toll...and the once vibrant, energetic man was taken down. I will miss him...

His 3 sons and 1 daughter and their children were all gathered at his side when he passed. At least he wasn't alone. He was blessed in that way.
