 Thoughts from a Friend

Below is one of those weird email exchanges between me and my first HS  BF David.  We have remained friends over the years.  for some reason he gets a kick out of my sense of humor.

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Nancy;

I figured this will fit your sense of humor.  Anyone who contemplates the purpose of pop-tarts as you do could add another explanation to this enduring question.  Let me know your thoughts as to this lingering question.

 Dave J

David:   ah...but is there any REAL concrete evidence that the chicken actually DID cross the road...or are we ASSUMING?  I will give you my take on it all if/when someone can provide me with some real, hard, irrefutable evidence that the chicken crossed the road and to where the chicken wandered.

Now leave me to my fence!  LOL    Nancy

Nancy:  Perhaps you have answered the question with your own question.  “Where did the chicken wander”?  The simple mention that she wandered would explain that she crossed the road with no purpose in mind.  And It must be a she, otherwise it would be a rooster, not a chicken.  And we all know a rooster would never stop to ask directions.   Dave

David:  Again...you are assuming that IF she wandered...she wandered across the road.   I need proof...evidence.  Nancy

Nancy:   First things first… if she had not crossed the road, nobody  would be asking the question as to her intent.  The fact that someone has questioned her intent indicates that that person witnessed the act of crossing the road.  However, not all people who question her intent actually witnessed the act but we can assume that the first person to question her intent did in fact witness the act.  I can personally attest to the fact that I have witnessed wild turkeys crossing the road and I have absolutely no understanding as to why they would attempt such a dangerous feat.  Perhaps the question should be “why would any living being cross the road”?  Dave

David:  Animals cross the road because they are no different than humans sometimes in their thinking.  They think it looks better on the other side.    Nancy

Nancy:  Great answer!  You may have just solved the time honored question.   Dave

David: You sound as if you doubt my intellect. for shame.  Keep in touch!  Nancy

 Best Laid Plans

This day has already started out being not what I figured it would be.

Last night was...LOUD. I went to my movie. Forgot my tissues. And I REALLY needed them. Of course, part of my crying was the medication...I REALLY HATE crying. I know, I've said it before...and I am sure I will say it plenty more times. I sat there looking at the crowd. You would think for a movie like "Sex in the City" it would be women. There was a gay couple...understandable. But there was a lot of much OLDER women with their husbands and only a couple of guys 'dragged' in with their wives and their female friends. yeah yeah. They were there for the sex scenes...the nudity. And, yes, there was some. come on! It was "Sex in the City"!!!! I was also sitting there for 2 1/2 hours thinking, "here I am...a married woman...watching a movie by myself...in a theatre. How pathetic."

When I got home, Troy had made the nachos for the guys and my daughter and HER friend. I left my instructions. It was good...I tried it. But there was a pile of dirty pots and pans. sigh. I washed them. After all, it's in my life/job description. They didn't play "Halo". Mark brought over his instruments and they played "Rock Band". I had to put up with that incessant pounding on that drumset thing while listening to one of them TRY to sing in the microphone. This went on for HOURS. Then I had to chauffer my daughter and her friend to SPIKES. It is a Saturday night hangout that my church sponsors for teens at the Family Center. I went to the store to get the ingredients for the white chocolate cheesecake I was making for the church dinner today.

I got home and made these chocolate fudge/butterscotch brownies for them. Fussed around a bit, then picked up Bethany and Megan. Troy made milkshakes, they played more games, popped popcorn and then the guys and gals separated themselves to watch movies. I was really tired and decided to go to my room and read then go to sleep...NOT! The guys (especially Mark) were so freakin' loud I had to put those earplugs in my ears. DANG! I am sure it ticked Troy off cuz Mark was making remarks through the whole movie. I can't say that I care for that either!

Then about 5 a.m. I was WIDE AWAKE. Could NOT get back to sleep. So, I got up and made the cheesecake. Watched the the season finale of "Lost" that I missed Thursday night for whatever reason. Then...you know what? I fell asleep. Missed going to church...missed the dinner. Anyone want some cheesecake?

There are 3 Open Houses to go to today...not sure if any of the houses are going to BE anything. They are all in our neighborhood. I have no expectations.

I ran into one of the women I was in a few classes with. I didn't RUN into her...I saw her at the grocery store. We are taking another class together this Fall. We sit in the back and make jokes to the profs. Not sure how this prof would take it tho.

Almost time for the big tour of homes. yippee. Sorry to be so enthused.

 Ringtone Party

Here is my ringtone list...

cellphone ringtones

For most cellphones you don't have to pay to get new ringtones. I go to Myxertones.com. It is really easy to do. You can also download a song you have stored on your computer and 'snatch' a segment of it to download to your phone for a ringtone.

Everyone have a good weekend! I have a movie to see...a Halo party to host...and church dinner tomorrow and a couple of houses to tour. No tornado...things quieted down. It is just kinda humid. The rain went around us. I think my flowers got their soaking last night, tho. I know my Red Hot Pokers are loving the heat!

 More Rain, no tornados please

Another day...another tornado watch. I told you I know tornado weather when I see it. I 'felt' it coming in yesterday.

I discovered something else yesterday. Me and cereal for breakfast are a bad match. I have been following a certain diet that calls for a scrambled egg on a slice of whole wheat toast with a sprinkle of cheese on top. This sticks around and gets me moving. Yesterday I ate a bowl of cereal. A few hours later I 'crashed'. I have been keeping as much sugar and carbs out of my diet as possible. Evidently that cereal had a lot more 'hidden' sugar in it than I had anticipated. Note to self: no more cereal.

I will put up my song list a little later. My theme this week is: My New Cell Phone Ringtones. Hey, you might be surprised! or not.

This afternoon it will be me, myself, and I going to see the "Sex in the City" movie. I have been waiting for that Carrie/Mr. Big wedding for years. I was not satisfied when they ended the series with the two of them walking off into the sunset together. I am also anticipating a "Gilmore Girls" movie where Lorelei and Luke finally have that fancy wedding.

Then, when I get home I have a large pile of nachos to make. My son's friends decided it was OUR turn to host the all night "Halo" party. sigh. My daughter is planning an escape. Lucky. Wish I had somewhere to hide.

That's it for now. Music later. I'm gonna go keep a watch for tornados.
