 Poodle Perm

Poor little Scrawny and Lettuce did not get fed until late. I made the mistake of going and getting a perm. I paid for it. And by the looks of it, I'll keep paying for it. Was supposed to be body waves but it looks like something half-way between this:

It looks nice on Minnie...but like hell on me!

It seems that Scrawny is pickie about her nuts. I put out the walnuts and pistachios. She ate the walnuts. Fine.

I don't know what to do with those pistachios...I don't like them either. I wonder if Ollie the dog next door would like them?

 Over Tired and Dangerous...okay...just goofy

There's this problem I have when I get over tired...I get extremely silly. I'm like Bill Engval with the random thoughts. And EVERYTHING makes me laugh until I cry...and my side hurts...and I'm gasping for air.

Now, if I'm over tired AND really hungry and thirsty...that's a WHOLE different personality right there. The best you can do is throw a muffin at me with a bottle of juice and hide...wait until I fall asleep.

But I have had my vegetarian subby and watched some Bill Engval and some Jim Gaffigan...I'm just waitin' for the NBA Finals.

Here is one of the most quoted pieces of comedy in our house. I do not know WHY we find it so funny..."Hot Pocket"!

Silence....is Golden? Perhaps more like Pewter

Okay...time for some quiet...time for some rest...time not to think about the fact that my youngest is on her way to Washington D.C. and my oldest is now in his last driver's ed. class.

I was up until 4 a.m. making sure everything was done, everything was packed and my son was busy downloading music onto my daughter's MP3 player for her. Gameboy's were charging, DVD player was charging.

And the thing that we worked on the MOST...swaps. Those things that each GS makes to exchange with girls from other troops. The leader suggested we make 100. Bethany and I decided to make buckeye leaves with the buckeye nut attached. The swap was supposed to represent where you are from and your troop. Ohio State Buckeyes! And the troop belongs to the Buckeye Trails Council.

This involved making a leaf pattern, tracing unto green foam sheets, cutting out. Dipping little wooden balls into brown paint and leaving a small area unpainted. Once those dry then you hot glue them to the leaves. You have to attache a card to it with your name, troop number and area of the country that you are from. We were going to pin them on. But I told Bethany after all that work that we should just put a drop of glue in the back of the leaves and attach the card that way. She hugged me and said, "Oh, Bless YOU!"

I told her that I love her very much...but if she brings even one of those buckeye swaps back home...I would have to disown her. You have NO idea how much work 100 of those things is!

Well, while I have a few hours to myself...I am going to go feed Scrawny and Lettuce and then have a cup o' java...and revel in the silence.

 Letting Go and other Stuff

I am REALLY nervous...it finally sank in...went to an end of the year 2 hour GS meeting with my daughter. We discussed the soon coming trip to D.C. The troop. Of girls. In D.C....with about 2100 or more GS's from all over the country. My daughter...going off where she has to make the best of it if something goes wrong becuz Mom (who is ALWAYS prepared) will not be there to fix it. She is excited...I'm am petrified! I have 2 more days to get things prepared.

Tomorrow we have to make 'swaps'...little things that the girls swap with other girls. They fasten a tag with their Troop number on it and the area of the country. They have to make 100 swaps. The best part is seeing the things she brings back from other girls. We are making glittery pipecleaner butterfly pins. I hope I have enuff glue for the glue gun!

Her leader was laughing about how much Bethany has come out of her shell this year. For instance...she talks...continuously...she fits right in with the other girls. I laughed and I said,"Try living with 3 mouths like that." Their eyes widened. "yep...my son is JUST as bad...and when their dad is home he follows me around the house yapping. It's all I can do to keep from yelling 'shut up'"

I could tell from the looks on their faces that I got their sympathy.

I did manage to step on one of the mother's toes, though (figuratively speaking). They were asking about Bethany returning to the school next year. I said that she is looking forward to it but that I was concerned that one of the girls she is friends with is dating boys already...in 6th GRADE! dates. girl/boy on a date! This other mother looked at me and said, "like my daughter?" I am sorry...and I don't think I'm out of line...but a 12 year old girl going on a DATE? DAAAAANNNNNNGGGGG! I told my daughter that I didn't mind if in 7th, 8th, 9th grade she went to school dances with boys and by 9th grade POSSIBLY a movie or GROUP activity. I really don't want to have to think about it. I'm still trying to erase the time I heard her refer to some boy as 'hot'. EEEWWWWWW!
