 Storing Up

It is getting to be that time of year...winter is fast approaching. Frost and freezing at night. Scrawny is grabbing the squirrel food out of the feeder at an alarming pace! She was given her pile of nuts yesterday and we saw her eat it all down. A few hours later she was back sitting on the back of one of the porch chairs looking through the window with a most piteous look on her face...and of course we gave in. sigh. More nuts. She jumps down on the porch floor and runs around like an excited puppy while waiting for the nuts to drop from our hands onto the outdoor carpeting. She's so funny!

While Bethany did not have school today, TJ did. AND it was costume day at school. I think he scared some ppl during the morning commute. He had his face painted up like some black and white clown. He said it was some guy from Insane Clown Posse. All I know is he looked like watching Bozo on black and white TV. I'm just glad that he is doing better. I pray it stays that way!

I have a ton of work...school work...to catch up on today. By Thursday I hope to have it all back to a normal pace. Whatever that is!

I also have to do some alteration to my daughter's trick-or-treat costume. They have trick-or-treating around here on Wednesday night. It used to be that once you reached teenage status you just didn't go anymore. Not here! The teenagers are out as much as the wee ones. I don't really care. They like the whole thing just as much as the little ones. AND as long as they aren't being destructive, it's fine.

I think I just might help Scrawny out and give her a box to use for her winter home. No, not a cardboard box. There is a big hawk that comes and looks around our backyard every now and then hoping to catch my squirrel. It was sitting out on top of the bush at the edge of the porch yesterday...right by the squirrel feeder. I waved it off. It went and landed on the wires above. I pelted it. I know...food chain and all...but it can't have my squirrel!

Have a good day everyone! May all disasters, natural and otherwise, take a holiday.

(btw...what's up with the blog time? I think we 'fell back' a week too early! )

Watch this! Hilarious! It's all in your perspective!

 Busy Beaver (Brown Band)

I have been really busy the last few days…trying to make up for three days of ‘sick’.

Taking 3 giggly girls for a pizza lunch/shopping.  Bleaching and scrubbing a kitchen, loads of laundry, dinners to feed the hoards ( my kids plus their friends), trying to keep up with their ‘social calendars’,  do some sewing, even took time to do some plumbing!  Not that the plumbing gave me a choice!  Let’s just say It gave me a hard time…but I fixed it!

TJ was off ‘networking’ last night.  A couple of years ago he was interning and helping out at the Troy PBS.  The guy incharge of the  camera work/editing, Joe, made this spooky film that was being screened for free at one of the Troy movie theaters last night at midnight.  It turns out Steven (TJ’s best friend) has an older brother that was friends with Joe and offered to take them (it is past  curfew) and TJ’s main JVS program teacher is friends with Joe.  So, TJ went to hook back up with Joe and see if he could take Joe up on his ‘offer’.  He had told TJ when he got his driver’s license that he could use him to do some of the sports taping and editing for the station.  TJ also can do his own weekly show on the station, too…if the concept is approved, of course.  So, TJ is going to see if he can do some freelance work for the station.  I hope so.

Bethany had a screaming girly b-day party to attend last night.  She has tomorrow off from school, too.

Troy returned yesterday morning bearing maple syrupy treasures from Vermont.  The syrup is extremely sweet and gives me a tummy ache.  The maple sugar candy I won’t touch.  BUT, there was some hard maple syrup candies that were actually quite good…not too sweet.  He is going to stay around home most of this coming week to get the house winterized and put some winter fertilizer on the lawn.

I took my quiz this morning for my Comp. and Benefits online class…the one that has me pulling my hair out.  I did good!  There’s hope for me yet.  I think.

.  I took time out to watch the Ohio State/Penn State game last night.  Poor Joe Patterno…perhaps you should retire!  And today is the Browns/Rams match up.  So, I have my sports…and more sewing…and laundry…to keep me busy.   Anyhoo…I hope you all have a good weekend!

 Up and Running...again

Okay...so I was feeling like worse than death warmed over the last couple of days. Today is a new day and the pain is finally gone. TJ got up and on his way to school...vowing to come home and collapse...before going off to a football game....with his gf du jour. Then he says he is going to do pretty much nothing but sleep all weekend.

As for me...Bethany has a long weekend from school...today and Monday off. I am taking her and a couple of friends to CC's Pizza for lunch and then they can do some goofy things like put weird colored streaks in their hair, listen to music, be silly...whateva!

AND I am doing a big closet clean out! It is over due...sounds like lots of fun...doesn't it?

I got my fall/halloween decorations up last night. I figured as long as I was making the sickness take a leave...I'd put out my fake leaves...get it...leave...leaves?

Okay...I'll make like a tree and leave.

As the Day Comes to a Close...

I am feeling somewhat better tonight. My headache comes and goes...not really wanting to let go of me...but it has no choice becuz I refuse to let it stay any longer. I'm done with it. (*note to others...I found out that drinking white tea seemed to chase away a lot of the pain...I gave some to my son who pronounced it to be 'nasty')

As far as my son...what I thought was a nasty sinus infection for me was really something else...and I'm afraid he caught some of it. His problems this morning were becuz of that. He called his teachers in the afternoon and talked with them becuz today was the last day of the grading period and he still had work to hand in and two tests he was supposed to take today. They were sympathetic enuff to give him time tomorrow to finish up at school. He worked on what he could at home. I'm still rather ticked off at him for leaving everything until the last minute. I have warned him about this for I don't know how long. He still does it and gets in a hole. Maybe someday he will learn?

Whatever this 'bug' is that I managed to contract is a nasty one. Last night (wed. night) I thought I was going to die...the pain was intense and EVERYWHERE. It wasn't just my head anymore.

TJ seemed to overcome it better than I. He is all ready for tomorrow (friday). Why wouldn't he be? Last night (wed. after school) he had 4 girls in his car on the way home from school. What I can't understand is this...he has a new gf (I give up trying to remember them really) named Tiffany BUT she sat in the back seat and Aerielle (the one that gave him the rose for Sweetest Day) sat in the front seat. I asked him why this was? He said becuz Aerielle whined so much about having to give up her front seat to Tiffany all the sudden so Tiffany climbed in back with the other two. I told him that I hoped he wasn't using Tiffany to make Aerielle jealous...he said he isn't...really. I gave him a long talkin' to. Not cool. I just want him to go to school!!! What's wrong with doing your school work and getting good grades? SHEESH!

I have to be on top of my game tomorrow (friday) anyway cuz I promised Bethany to take her and her friend Amy to CC's pizza for lunch (Bethany's school is off Friday and Monday) and possibly to Bath and Body Works (our favorite place to get lotions and such). I am hoping to pick up some mini pumpkins also so they can help me put them around outside.

Troy will not be home until Saturday...has some jet computer work to do for Proctor & Gamble. He spent the first part of the week in Vermont getting some things straightened out with one of the equipment suppliers (I really wish I could have gone!) then back to Cincinnati for meetings and this other thing. It's a good thing he wasn't around for my 'sickness'. He doesn't deal well with sick ppl.

Onward and upward. And may tomorrow be a much better day for all.
