 Just a Few Days Left!

TJ and Bethany

I have been without internet for a few days. In some ways it might have been a good thing...except when I wanted to look up a few recipes that I'd lost. Then I had to call someone else and bug them to look for me.

I actually went out to a local mall today to do my last minute gift grab. There is ALWAYS something else.

Things will be changing around here after the holidays but I will deal with all of that later. I just need to get through the holidays with a smile. Hope you all are gearing up for a wonderful time with family. It is always precious when family can spend time together.

 High in the Sky

So yesterday I gathered my lists for which store had what on sale and plotted my route so as not to waste time and gasoline. I had extended family members to buy for...and my mom had sent me money to shop for my kids and put her name on it. I have no lasting power. I was home making dinner before 4:30 and I hadn't left until noon. I did what I could and I don't have too much left really.

But when I got home I saw the Mr. walking around the house and talking on his cell phone, had a grim look on his face, looked at me and shook his head. Okay...no anxiety. Then, he tells me that he wouldn't be spending a few days in Battle Creek, MI. Instead, his boss so nicely put him on a flight test team...he had to leave for Chicago last night and from there the team spends their time riding on American Airlines 777's around the world so that they can 'tweak' the new systems they put in. London, Dubais...and he said he thought he heard something that ended in 'ran'. He is generously allowed to be home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The thing is...this is the 'nice' time of year. We all relax and breathe easy. And he won't even be here to share his 'nice'.

As 'strange' would have it, I had bought him a new set of luggage. Originally I was just going to buy him a replacement bag for the suitcase he has used and abused for years. But, there was a whole set on sale...a really nice one...so I bought it just last Friday. So...he got one of his Christmas presents early.

*****************************
On the home front...yesterday my daughter had a major anxiety attack and I had to be at the school with her for an hour yesterday morning. But she said by 3rd period she was fine (I didn't get her settled down until after 2nd period started). My son TEXTS me to find out when I'm going to be home and I called him and told him to pull himself together cuz I'd already done my thing for the morning.

So...she got up and went off to school this morning with a smile on her face and a quickly tossed "good luck with TJ" ( yeah..thanks)over her shoulder. He is giving me the WORST time this morning. HE should be at school in about 6 minutes. Guess that's not happening. I get so freakin' tired of this...every day! BUT...it's happy time! I'll put on the Christmas music and get to my cookie making...and go kick some teenage boy butt. 3 more days of school. That's it! Somewhere along the line...after all the pills and doctors and therapists...it has to get better.

Merry Christmas...merry merry Christmas! And...I'm off like Santa's compass at the North Pole.

 Sharing and Caring

For the last few days I have been decorating and shopping and baking and crafting and listening to lots of music (and butchering it by singing along)...just yesterday I was listening/singing to some Dan Fogelberg. How ironic...and now he is dead. He had such a great voice and great lyrics...

*****************************************
In my shopping adventures I decided NOT to let all the people and long lines make me grumpy...or cranky...but a different dwarf altogether...HAPPY! I listened to the Christmas music and hummed along, and sometimes even quietly sang along, as I made my way through the stores. I was smiley and thanked everyone for even the smallest kindness...waved others to go in front of me when the lines were long and they had less than I (one looked just about dead tired). I had a couple of fun conversations with others...patiently stopped and let others out of the parking lot ahead of me (as far as I know I still have lots of time left...I'm not in a hurry)...and I noticed something...it is just like that commercial on TV where one person notices another person doing some small gesture of kindness so then they do one and so on...it works.

My daughter got crafty so I did a little too. I remember one year I bought plain white bags and rubber Christmas stampers and made our own gift bags. Of course the kids were younger then...but they had fun! This year I am having them do the cookie trays for delivery. They each have picked one person that they would like to give a cookie tray to...or a gingerbread house. Bethany and I are working in the Soup Kitchen tomorrow night. I have never done that before! Her GS troop has designated themselves as a service unit and that is the service for this month. The families are invited to help so I will.

I know I wasn't going to do any blogging but I had so much to share!

Tomorrow is back to the cookies...the houses...and shopping. Everyone find something wonderful about this season. Look around and find some way to share!

 Sleigh Me!

I didn't really have anything to put on here! I have been making elfish cartoons this morning of me and my siblings (if you are interested...or want to pain your eyes for some reason...copy and paste this link: http://www.elfyourself.com/?id=1328375082 )

My flu is almost gone. I got up yesterday and went right back down...passed out for like 3 hours! Unbelievable. Troy had already gotten on my case the night before...said I was pushing things and not allowing my body the rest it needed. So, my body TOOK the rest it needed. I still managed to get some needed classwork done and went to take my last Final last night. It was NOT good. This had been a cake class all the way...even the instructor seemed bored. Then he hands us this test that was mind blowing. I handed it in after about 2 hours. There was about 3 ppl still there struggling with it when I left. I HAD a really good score in that class. I have a few more little assignments to get done and handed in.

The kids are having their flu struggles but...

Today the Christmas crap is getting spread around the house. Cards will be out tomorrow...and cookie dough will be mixed and chilled...ready for baking tomorrow. AND I will start on ONE of the gingerbread houses tomorrow. That is what I plan on doing with some of my weekend. I didn't do any of them last year. None. It was sad. This year I am doing a couple of them, dang it!

Anyhoo...have a good one! And if I don't appear for a few days...send someone out looking for me in the cookie dough, okay?
